This was a wonderful read. After reading Christine Garwood's Flat Earth: The History of an Infamous Idea I wanted to get to know the major players a little better, David Warldaw Scott being one of them. While he might be criticized for his lack of credentials, I think some context is important- this was written when science as a profession (and so professional scientists) was just coming into existence. While he does not boast what we as modern people would see as being a well-established scientist, he nonetheless provides incredible proofs for his position against the mainstream science of his day including accounts from other scientists, explorers, and travelers. I also enjoyed the ample evidence he provides of Scripture's position on the matter. The book, taken as a whole, makes one think that maybe our modern day astronomers and scientists have missed the mark- or are participating in some level of deception- perhaps.

Subject: A sad read..

Sorry to say, but this book is an old mans rant. He has no formal education in the subject, leans on only those he agrees with, and shoots down those with whom he disagrees. There is so much hatred and mocking in this book that I had to stop reading it.
Scripture says, knowledge puffs up while love builds up (1 Cor 8:1).
I cannot recommend it, it made me nauseous.

I have the original book in amazing condition. I believe it is worth over $10k in auctions because of its scarcity and general lack of availability.
Apart from the biblical support, which is fantastic, the arguments especially concerning compass measurements & sailing distances being consistently reported longer in the southern hemisphere compared to equal latitudes in the northern hemisphere is fascinating. Of course the only way to proof this supposition is to do the voyages yourself, and good luck.
